"The First Do No Harm" continued...

The story focuses on a school janitor named Jesús, and how his life is impacted by the events that unfold. Just like Christ taught in parables, First Do No Harm shares its message through an analogy. The implications are huge, and the value of life is affirmed. Abortion is viewed through a story that truly hasn’t been told. With a $35,000 budget, the film was made with no ambitions of bringing a return. It is a ministry tool. After establishing his target market of crisis pregnancy centers, Mark set out to direct his first film. A few unexpected challenges soon cropped up. Raising the needed funds got off to a slow start, but the project was finally able to get off the ground. The biggest challenge ended up being the casting. Many actors were privately enthused about the film but afraid to take on the subject matter. Christian actors, who often turn down roles that are too liberal, were turning down First Do No Harm because it was too conservative! Pro-Life films also appear to be the kiss of death for many actors in Hollywood. This movie was just too risky. The Lord blessed this project, however and casting was completed in October of 2013. Kenny Santiago Marrero portrays the lead character Jesús Torres, and Conservative Talk Radio host Mike Gallagher was cast as himself. Other cast members included actors from North and South Carolina and Virginia. The film has been endorsed nationally by R.C. Sproul Jr. (Ligonier Ministries), Walt Larimore, MD (formerly of Focus on the Family), Thomas Kendall Sr., MD (President, Association of American Physicians and Surgeons), John Weaver (Pastor, Freedom Baptist Church), and many more.

Filming was completed in November of 2013, and the movie is now available on DVD. What is the next step for First Do No Harm? Simply put, to get people thinking. We live in a society of mindless zombies that follow the masses wherever they go. It is time to use critical thinking in our lives. As Christians, we must weigh everything according to God’s Word. “Be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive” (Ephesians 4:14). I encourage you to see First Do No Harm and share it with others.

Give it to somebody that is Pro-Choice and have a heartfelt discussion with them afterwards. There are so many ways that you can share the truth of this film’s message.
